John Revie
Director Asia Pacific - carbonjobs
“My role at carbonjobs places me in the privileged position of receiving regular first hand feedback as to the various pros and cons of sustainability-based academic offerings across Australia. IEC’s Master of Energy Studies program stands out in my opinion due to the high calibre of industry partners, teaching professionals and fellow students whose own varied professional backgrounds contribute significantly to the course’s appeal. IEC’s continuing focus on the practical application of global best practice methodologies will ensure that students are well prepared for the unique challenges that lie ahead within this highly dynamic industry.”
Rachel Powell
Energy Trader - Arrow Energy
"Working as an energy trader, I have found that the knowledge gained from my participation in the Master of Energy Studies has allowed me to excel within my current position and has provided me with the opportunity to advance and diverge within the energy industry. Even at this early stage, I find myself having increasing input on long term portfolio decisions as I apply my rapidly expanding theoretical and factual knowledge base. The information provided in the MES is contemporary and practical and is presented in an environment where interaction between students and staff is encouraged. The diversity and knowledge of both the teaching staff and the student cohort has allowed me to view both industry and workplace challenges in a new light. My analytical skills have greatly improved and I now have the confidence to challenge existing and evolving problems within the national and international energy industry. To date, I feel that the greatest gap in knowledge that I have filled is an in-depth understanding of both national and international climate change policy and the fiscal mechanisms being employed to change the dynamics of the energy industry. I very much look forward to another two years of learning!"
