The MES develops the new generation of leaders for a low carbon world. Students become part of the solution and lead the transformation of the economy. The program develops those skills that are highly sought after in future energy leaders and MES graduates are influential advocates for an accelerated yet sustainable transition to a clean energy future.
The MES has been created and designed by a group of experts from academia and industry who understand that applicants are looking for something more when they choose a postgraduate program.
The MES is not just about the qualification – it is about a life changing experience that will take your career to the next level. We understand that you want a program that gives you value for money, advances your career and offers streamlined delivery so that you do not have to take extended time out of the workforce.
The MES does this by:
- Enhancing your skills, knowledge and confidence to enable you to embark on new and advanced career pathways.
- Introducing you to talented, motivated and inspiring individuals from a variety of disciplines and nationalities.
- Encouraging you to devise solutions to global challenges
- Tailoring delivery modes to suit full-time and part-time students.
- Supporting opportunities for international project placement.
- Offering a variety of scholarship opportunities for domestic and international students, and affordable fees.
The aim of the IEC is to develop professionals of the highest calibre who will take on leadership roles to address energy challenges at local, regional and national levels.
What makes the MES unique?
The MES has been developed by the International Energy Centre, in close collaboration with three leading Australian universities and an industry partner. This unique partnership results in our co-taught, co-delivered and co-badged approach.
The teaching team comprises academics from all three partner universities.
The program uses only outstanding faculty and industry experts. Students learn directly from leading academics, researchers and internationally acclaimed practitioners in the energy sector. Guest presentations by industry experts also provide students with countless networking opportunities.
Courses are delivered at all three partner universities.
This gives students the opportunity to study on-campus at Australia's finest universities.
The MES testamur bears the logos of all three partner universities.
Graduates receive a co-badged Master of Energy Studies, from the University of Queensland, the University of Western Australia and the University of Newcastle. The program is supported and endorsed by leading industry partner Xstrata Coal.
The IEC member universities are among the highest ranking universities in Australia and the world, according to the Australia Research Council, The Times Higher Education rankings and the Academic Ranking of World Universities.
